Algocells Regenerative Orthopaedics
The Smart Clinics in Chelsea is delighted to host Algocells, the first Regenexx® Clinic in the UK and currently the only Regenexx® clinic in Europe.
Algocells focuses on using advanced orthopaedic regenerative medicine techniques for musculoskeletal conditions and spine pain.
Treatments are designed to stimulate regeneration and recovery through:
- Stem cell therapy
- Platelet rich plasma treatment (PRP)
The principle is to deal with pain by working on the source of pain, rather than the symptoms of discomfort.
Using Regenexx® technology, Algocells is an innovative and exciting treatment approach, led by renowned experts Dr Zbigniew (Zibby) Kirkor and Dr Martynas Juozaitis.
It is highly versatile and can be effective in treating a variety of orthopaedic pain conditions including:
- Arthritis
- Sport injuries
- Back pain
- Disc/spine problems
- Joint problems
Algocells Treatments
Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cells have the ability to replicate and develop into healthy new tissue.
As you age or get injured, you may not have enough of these cells to fully repair affected areas, but stem cell treatments help overcome this challenge. During treatment, we take a sample of bone marrow from which we can extract stem cells in our on-site laboratory. We then prepare a concentrated formulation of stem cells which can be injected precisely into the damaged area, where it releases powerful healing agents to support and boost your body’s own mechanisms. The injections take place on the same day as the sample is taken.
According to the current research stem cells extracted from bone marrow tend to develop into cartilage and bone cells and therefore bone marrow is preferable source of stem cells used in orthopaedic conditions.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelets rich plasma or PRP injections stimulate healing by providing important concentrated growth factors from your blood to the site of injury.
Treatment starts by taking a sample of your own blood, which is then purified into a plasma solution rich in platelets, the ‘healing’ component of your blood. Our advanced PRP therapy products are purer and more concentrated than those created by automated machines.
The concentrated dose of growth factors are then injected back into the damaged tissue. This facilitates the action of your stem cells as they work to repair damage and trigger healing and regeneration mechanisms.
PRP treatment is commonly used for soft tissue injuries, mild arthritis and spine conditions. It can be used as a stand-alone procedure or in combination with stem cell procedures.
“Our goal is to find what is wrong with your spine and try to correct it. That’s why our treatments often provide long lasting substantial improvement in pain and mobility.
